Preface
Greetings!
The Third Australasia and South East Asia Conference in Structural Engineering and Construction (ASEA-SEC-3) is a part of the International Structural Engineering and Construction (ISEC) Society's conference series. Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia, the largest offshore campus of Curtin University, Perth, Australia is proudly hosting the ASEA-SEC-3 from 30th October to 4th November 2016 at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with the support of University Malaysia Sarawak as the local co-host.
The theme of ASEA-SEC-3 is "Integrated Solutions for Infrastructure Development", which emphasises the importance and needs of integrated solutions for infrastructure development, not only in ASEAN countries but all throughout the world. Infrastructure development is constantly a high agenda among developing countries such as those in ASEAN. The integration of industry and academia may contribute to solutions for future cooperation in the Structural Engineering and Construction areas. To this end, ASEA-SEC-3 serves as a practical and efficient mechanism for discussing and seeking integrated solutions for the future of infrastructure development in these countries.
This proceedings contain technical papers presented at the conference. There are 65 articles by authors from 25 countries. All articles have been selected after a rigorous peer-review process of two stages -- the abstract review and the full manuscript review. These articles represent major and multidisciplinary areas of civil engineering and construction from concrete structures, sustainable construction, steel structures, analysis and design of structural systems, project management, engineering education, cost management, and many others. The conference also aims to bring practice and research together to provide an opportunity for the exchange of the latest research findings by active researchers, academicians, engineers, architects, and construction managers.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to thank the authors for their contributions to this conference. We also thank the members of the International Technical Committee and all the reviewers for their time and support in the review process. We also express our gratitude to sponsors and co-sponsors for the realization of the conference. Last but not least, thanks to all the conference participants for sharing their ideas, knowledge, and experience at ASEA-SEC-3.
