Preface
Recent trends in structural engineering and construction are characterized by the increasing importance of sustainability issues, development and application of innovative building materials, advanced digitalization and automatization of construction processes, rising significance of legal topics, and much more. In this context, presentation and exchange of new ideas, knowledge and experience among academics, engineers, entrepreneurs, and architects from all over the world is of outstanding importance. The Fourth European and Mediterranean Structural Engineering and Construction Conference (EURO-MED-SEC-4), entitled "State-of-the-art Materials and Techniques in Structural Engineering and Construction", was organized by the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) in June 2022 aiming to provide a platform for the discussion of the challenging developments in civil and structural engineering.
The conference proceedings present 128 papers from 37 countries. The studies include research papers as well as representative studies from practitioners. Architectural engineering, design methods and Building Information Modeling, actions on structures, building materials, reinforced concrete structures, steel and composite structures, structural analysis, reliability and risk management, seismic design and analysis, sustainability, façade design and maintenance, project management, construction management, cost analysis, legal affairs and many other fields of civil engineering and construction are covered. The technical content of each manuscript is carefully reviewed by the editorial team, the external reviewers as well as copy and format editors.
On behalf of the organizing committee, we wish to thank all authors who contributed to the proceedings and the conference, and the external reviewers who diligently reviewed and submitted their reviews in a timely manner. We are deeply grateful to all committee members and the ISEC Society for their extensive support in all processes of the conference organization. Finally, we thank the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences for providing technical and logistic support and the facilities and infrastructure to host the technical sessions.
