Preface

There are always new advancements and research conducted in the field of civil engineering design and construction management. Thus, organizing international conferences is an effective way to bring scholars and scientists together to discuss their ongoing research work for the further advancement of the field.

These proceedings offer a valuable collection of peer-reviewed technical articles in the field of structural engineering and construction accepted for publication and presentation at the 11th International Structural Engineering and Construction Conference, ISEC-11. The conference theme for ISEC-11 was chosen to be “Interdisciplinary Civil and Construction Engineering Projects” to highlight the importance of interdisciplinary research between scientists and engineers. The proceedings contain eleven chapters with articles in the relevant fields of structural systems and optimization, steel structures, structural dynamics and earthquake engineering, architectural engineering, environment, sustainability and green buildings, infrastructure engineering and management, construction safety and risk management, construction management and BIM, education and work environment, and concrete materials and soil mechanics. The proceedings contain 93 articles from 23 countries.

The conference was hosted by the Nile University in Egypt and was held in a hybrid format with both onsite and online participants, over the period of July 26 - July 31, 2021. We wish to thank all conference participants who have contributed significantly to the advancement of this conference despite the Covid-19 pandemic difficulties.

On behalf of the conference organizing committee, we would like to thank and acknowledge the conference technical committee members and reviewers for all their dedication and commitment. We also thank the ISEC Advisory Committee for their continuous support and cooperation. Many thanks go to Nile University for providing the required logistic support, infrastructure and facilities.
