Welcome to EURO-MED-SEC-2

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to the Second Europe-Mediterranean Structural Engineering and Construction Conference (EURO-MED-SEC-2) to be held in Beirut (Lebanon) from July 23 to July 28, 2018. The conference theme is “Responsible Design and Delivery of the Constructed Project”. The Conference aims to address current issues that can help advance the design and construction body of knowledge towards more responsibly conceiving, planning, and implementing construction projects. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for local, regional, and international scholars to interact on contemporary research work dealing with advancements in project delivery approaches, design methodologies, sustainable materials and practices, construction technologies, and dispute resolution mechanisms, to name a few. It will include one day of pre-conference reception, two days of concurrent technical sessions (concluded with a banquet dinner), one day for technical tours, and two days for cultural tours.

Beirut is located in the middle of the coast of Lebanon, beautifully protruding into the Mediterranean Sea. The city, often called "Paris of the Middle East", is a thriving hotspot for shopping, socializing and sightseeing. The city has been rebuilt several times, with modern architecture sharing space with Ottoman and colonial French buildings. Vibrant sectors of Beirut, including the Beirut Central District and the Jemmeizeh, Verdun, Hamra, and Ashrafieh areas, provide memorable experiences in many soaring ways. The National Museum and the Gibran Museum give visitors a taste of the city's history, while the Corniche (along the seaside of Beirut) is the ideal place for activities like jogging and biking.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the ISEC Secretariat on isec.sec@gmail.com or the local organizing committee.
