ASEA SEC 5

Emerging Technologies and Sustainability Principles in Structural Engineering and Construction
Christchurch, New Zealand, November 30 - December 3, 2020

Welcome to ASEA SEC 5

Dear All,

Welcome to the 5th Australasia and South-East Asia Structural Engineering and Construction Conference, ASEA-SEC-5. This latest conference will be part of the successful ongoing ISEC conference series. The conference aims to provide a platform to discuss recent technological advancements and innovations in the broad field of Structural Engineering and Construction. It will bring together academics, researchers and engineers from around the world to exchange ideas and to discuss the latest international developments and future challenges in the profession.

On behalf of the local organizing committee, I am pleased to announce that the ASEA-SEC-5 conference will be held at the City campus of Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand from November 30 to December 2, 2020. Ara Institute of Canterbury is the largest Polytechnic Institute of Technology in the south island of New Zealand. The conference sessions will be held at Kahukura building (Department of Engineering and Architectural Studies).

Christchurch is the second largest city of New Zealand, known as the gateway city to the South Island, and set in the middle of the Canterbury region. This historic and scenic city has been recovering from two major earthquakes in September 2010 and February 2011. The city has since embarked on a large reconstruction project and is now largely re-built with modern, earthquake-resistant structures with a focus on sustainability and resilience. Christchurch provides an exceptional context and venue for the ASEA-SEC-5.

We are looking forward to welcoming all of you to Christchurch. The local organizing committee is working with the support of ISEC Society, to ensure that all participants will have a wonderful and memorable experience.

Kind Regards,

Conference Chair
